Does anybody know of any companies that will provide CP Operators in Hostile enviroments with Travel and extra life Insurance without having to pay through the nose for it. The company I work for, has decided that we are no longer covered for our travel to and from Iraq

Hi Alex,
Are you being covered for Medical Costs/Life Insurance during your time in Iraq? Sounds like the Company you work for has cancelled all cover? if thats the case it is very unfair of them given the risks and their responsibilities to your whilst you are working away from home. I have posted before about limited cover for individuals in hostile Country's alas full cover is only available on a Company Policy due to the claims/risk exposure which would mean the cost will be uneconomical for individuals. Please let me know what is the specific cover you need and I will try and point you in the right direction. Cheers, Mark |

We are covered for our time in Theatre, but not when we are travelling home on leave or back out to Iraq after our leave. I am looking for travel Insurance with extra life cover.

Information On Special Risks Insurance in Iraq for PMC and Contractors
Special Risks Insurance In Iraq for PMC and Contractors What is special risks insurance? Sometimes referred to as all risks insurance, special risk insurance is for people who require life or health cover but may find difficulty in obtaining it because they pursue a hazardous pastime or occupation or are working in politically unstable areas such as Iraq and Afghanisatan. For example we can quote for combined accidental death insurance (death through natural causes - excluding suicide) combined with personal accident insurance policy offering insurance for death or loss of a limb resulting from an act of war or terrorism. Each insurance policy is unique and has to be tailored to the individual circumstances. In the rebuilding of Iraq a large number of contractors or various types of telecoms engineers and technicians, freelance journalists and PMC (private military contractors) are working in places like Baghdad and Basra. This is unlike a normal working environment and many employers do not provide adequate insurance cover for there employees – or any insurance cover in some cases! |

If your employer/main contractor will not provide Travel Insurance it is unlikely that it will be available to you on an individual basis with the correct cover.....
You could try: - 1) American Express - Worldwide Prestige MultiTrip Travel Policy....may need to refer Country ( 120 day limit in the country/Iraq ) which may also be a problem as well as proof of overnight accomodation booked in order to claim etc. Oh! and you will need Business Cover as your travel is work related..... 2) If you arrange the booking of flights you could ask the airline for their Travel Insurance and just hope its either adequate or if they fail to tell you whats excluded then you have a right of recourse against them albeit, costly, stressful and difficult to pursue...more so if not a UK carrier. 3) You could try the link in my post above and see if the correct travel cover could be added to the PA/Life cover. 4) You could ask if your company will provide the cover if you contribute towards the cost. I hope that the above gives you a few ideas and solutions. Stay Safe! |

ICA online have various companies advertising insurance. I personally have been offered $375,000 cover regardless of location. This includes in theatre (a handy top up for the wifey!!) and the premium is about 100 a month. Sounds steep but I wanted extra 'in-country' cover too for when i get out there.

Some people cannot wait though! i.e. already working in Theatre so your post is no use to man or beast.... rather pointless to slag off other members attempts at helping find an aswer or solution (even at least if in part) than just say " I am out of ideas for this!!!" dont you think?
So what do you know about Travel Insurance, PA, Repatriation cover for hostile countries then? What was that Insurance Company link for? is that your site? Are you regulated? Can you underwrite risks outside your country? |
