A month or so ago I bought a pair of Altberg Desert Veldthog boots, they are a seriously amazing boot with a weldted stitched sole unit unlike most curent boots wit moulded ones.
The upper is thin so does not hamper mobility at all e.g while driving but still provides good support. But it really is the foot and sole unit of this boot that stands out as amazing!! Very very worth a try, and made in the UK so will not hike up in price like Matterhorns or Meindl due to the £/Euro situation. I've always been a Meindl fan but these beat the Desert Fox by a long shot!! |

Altbergs are good but i recommend having a look at the Lowa desert boot, they are strong, comfortable, based on the German mountain boot; the anti-scuff toe is a brilliant touch.
