In recent months I've been putting a fair bit of clothing through its paces, namely by Paramo and Tasmainian Tiger/Tatonka.

One of the jackets I've been using is the Takanka soft sell above; it's a hell of a bit of kit. Looks like a tightly woven flece, but being a "soft sell" its waterproof (to a point) and wind proof too.

It has two large side pockets that can be fully opened as vents, likewise gusseted chest pockets as well as pit-zips. In all cases the zips are multi directional. In addition it has a large pocket on each upper arm, with a loop Velcro patch on these pockets for atatching badge patches etc.

A wide neck area gives plenty of freedom in that area if you have thicker clothing underneath and an elasticated neck draw cord keeps the rain (snow today!) out.

It's a slightly shaped/fitted cut and the slieves have thumb holes in the cuffs.

Its a great fitting jacket and very practical in all conditions. But, without doub the plus point is the amazing practicallity of the storage capacity in the pockets.

It comes in green, kakhi and black. Def well worth a look.

Free gear? I wish! No, I have a few contacts in the trade from manufacturers to retails and often get offered new kit at heavily discounted prices in return for feedback, reviews etc

The only "free" kit I've had I have to return after I've hammered it!
