sso course advice?

Hiya all,
Am really after some advive to do with maritime security,I have 8 years military experience although this was in The Parachute Regiment,Would this count against me in this line of work?I have completed a Close Protection Course but have been told its desireable to get an sso course done for work in maritime security.On looking into this I found plenty of these courses but with quite a rang in the prices.Would be greatful if someone could point me in the right direction on this.

MMWC gives good advice about trawling through the previous threads ref the SSO as an ex 22 yr Infantry soldier myself i have been doing Maritime for 2 and a half yrs now and i still have not done the SSO course. PM me and i will chat to you.

Please though don't and as I have previously posted discount the SSO course as a source of learning when delivered by time served marsec operators!

Hi all,
I am on a SSO Course (well starting in the morning) run by Drum Cussac Ltd. This Company was recommended because of their professionalism and price.
Another company asked if I was interested in working in the Gulf of Aden since I had operational experience before (but no maritime experience) but I needed a SSO course first before deployment. The main reason for them needing me and others to complete such a course was that their insurance company were asking for all security teams to be qualified before going operational. (its a preference thing).

I am doing 3 days of SSO course and 1 day off Anti Piracy and Kidnap & Ransom. All for £500 !

Just to add a close friend is starting his CP course with Nemesis (Good luck Martin) and they are throwing in a Maritme Security Course in for free.
