mickworldwide has a spectacular aura aboutmickworldwide has a spectacular aura about
did they deliver disco or was it order and pick up ???
I always preferred the Kebabs in erbil ... and they delivered to our hotel !!!

Back on the subject of medics, I agree with the comment regarding the 2 week course and thinking they are fully qualified, I worked with an individual who was a complete med mong and after he left us he did a 3 week course somewhere and next time I saw him he was deployed as a team medic!!!
I tend to look towards a proper qualification , offshore, MIRA, Paramedicine etc, that is usually coupled with some on the ground experience and some verifiable deployments.... Combat medics and team medics with conflict experience is good also.

Best I ever witnessed was a FFL medic who had worked all over the African former colonies and had time in the Balkans and the pit. I am sure his actual quals were not the most impressive but his practical application was out of this world.

Very well...especially if this is CMT 1. Do the 4 week Offshore Medic course with it and that will stand you in good stead. You will never be on less than 220 quid per day offshore either!

Hello Disco2,

As per the first reply. You will probably need RGN, Offshore medic or a proven medical background in the RAMC .RN.RAF. Some firms like "patrol medics" who are usually ex SF but in my opinion they are the LAST people I would want to on a team.

There are a lot of people out there who are called "medics" by various companies but it's a very loose title in the CP industry I'm sorry to say.

The Ronin is probably your best option for CP/and medical training. But in all honesty a lot of medical stuff on site or even with the Psd side goes along the lines of GP treatments.

Witty.

This is a really helpful discussion.

I'm definitely going to join the TA now and train as a CMT.

I want to work in Hostile Environments, but as I have my Offshore Ticket (Norwegian) maybe that will come in handy in future too.

Thanks guys.

Tintin2k8,

In my experince for CP/PSD medic roles the OPs Manager or SSM/TL on the ground wants to know that the medic with him has

1. Qualifications, ie: ex CMT1/RMA1 ex Regular Teeth Arms
2. Familiarity with the arse end of a weapon incase of a contact.
3. Experience: The medic has, at least, done 1 Op Tour in the theatre he wants to work in as a medic and has experience of treating casualties.
4. The medic understands that if the "shitŁ" does hit the fan...he isnt part of the NHS, an ambulance is not going to turn up, he has to deal with a casualty with minimal kit.
