bonejas will become famous soon enough
Hi Hope 2421,

If you want to join the TA you would probably start as an NCO, if you want to be doing CMT/ Paramedic work. Officers, they only do paperwork etc, no real hands on from what I know. The other point about the TA is that all the military courses are of no use in the civilian world. Don't get me wrong, good training and excellent groundwork for the sandpit etc but not much use outside the military. Also, they need good medics, not all CMT carry the knowledge of a civilian paramedic.

The only course that would serve you any good as a civilian would be the Flight Medic course run out of RAF Lyheham. 3 weeks training on the ground and then 3 weeks in the air (if there are any airframes).

Its not all doom, you get to do some great stuff and even attach to specialist units. It will also see you going to a sandy area - not if but when. If you sign up - you will go.

Hope that gives you an answer in short but I'm sure some of the other medics will be able to give you more advise.

They are desperate for medics especially civvy paramedics so get to the nearest TA RAMC unit mate, TA medics are one of the most deployed members of the TA.
