Hey, I'm also South African but I have an Irish passport from my dads side, I joined the British Army(after applying at 16 and going through the process for a year) at 17 and 2 months and trained as Infantry till 4 weeks before passout of phase 2 I discharged because of a change of heart really(I know it was late in the game but I wanted to continue so badly I didn't realise I really didnt want to do it anymore, not the aim and work more the environement and how much time you actually spend not doing infantry related work) but I'd love to go back to South Africa one day, lived in Durban mostly, is that a South African police force you speak of...If I had the money to live in SA(I'm only 18 at the moment so hardly have enough saved up) I'd apply for police there definitely and go back to do that, unless of course I get a job I like here in the UK hopefully...currently studying IT(from home though, means im sutdying courses solely IT because even IT degrees from university's arn't focused enough for the industry)

haha I love how you have put "once proud" forces there, yea the situation is not so good these days, my dad was a parabat for 2 years and a cousin of mine was inf then parabat and left as a sergeant major in the parabats because he started to get passed up for promotion and went private(industy not rank), sad really I'm sure he would of stayed in, and now this credit crunch has meant the job prospects for myself and my brother(a big reason for the move to the UK) havent actually improved so drastically as could have been
