Hello All,

Calling on all our knowledge, i understand you can be a royal marine reserve and do Close Protection, a lad passed the Longmoor course the other month.

I am joining the RMR and very much would like to know if any one knows anyything about the the Royal Marine Police how it works how the CP Tours come about , any info you thinks relevent would be informative, cheers lads and lass'es

Hi,
To do the full Rmp CP course as a Marine you have to be RM Police Troop. Reservist (RM's) cannot specialise in the MP Branch therefore cannot do the CP cse. You can however do the protective mobile skills driving package at Longmoor which is just a week driver training for CP team drivers (as opposed to 8 wk cp cse). Im guessing this is what hes done.

A lot of non- police lads claim to have done the CP cse at longmoore when they have in fact only done the driving package!! Army, RAF, and RM Police only can do it. (one navy police lad has tried but freddy'd!!)

If you go the regular route be aware that due to operational commitments it takes a while to get on the CP cse in the troop and you have to be lucky to get a tour especially with the tempo of ops!!
