I haven't seen the GMP ARU's lately but it would most probably be the H&K G36c as most Armed units are changing to that particular model

If it helps at all. I know some Forces have been looking at the HK 74 I think it is.(That could just as easliy be the 47?????)Although given your description it certainly sounds more akin to the G36.
Rails, lights and all the bells and whistles are avaialbel in the Met for the 36

This 'machine pistol' has been out for 2.5 years and has done its rounds here with the civilian IPSC crowd and is in service with a few of the Police depts. in various capacities having swapped their HKMP5K's for this.

We looked at this as an additional training tool, but after testing we felt it was a bit too small and has a few 'known' mechanical issues that would not stand the time over a few training sessions, though we heard that Brugger Thomet had ironed this out last year and it is now a top performer.

Note: We put 1000+ rounds through during the test session and no problems, no stoppages and not much overheating.

Its a 9mm, comes with the normal weaver mounts, very compact, ultra light and reasonable accurate out to 50m.

If you plan to do a little shooting before going out to dinner make sure you check your face in a mirror for carbon as your face is right next to the ejection port (first hand experience speaking and definitely on par with the old 'boot polish on your susat ' trick.

Is this a copy of the Steyr TMP (I think thats the correst acronym) ?

The trouble with a lot of stuff coming through now is, sceanrio training with it. If you`re a Copper carrying a gun, you`ll train with it a lot more than using it in a shoot out. If you can`t fire stuff like `Simunition` or simple blanks, then it`s not much use for confrontational scenarios

Thats what is good about H & K and to a certain extent Glock. Most of their stuff can be use with the various type of training aids. We caught a cold with the Steyr AUG 9mm conversion. Despite many promises, they never made a factory BFA for it, so we ended up using the 5.56mm version with BFA`s. I`m not sure if they ever made a `man marking` training round conversion .

In the end, we went for the H & K G36C which has got the lot. Together with Glocks own Simunition pistols (17T) we are more than happy.

Weve been using the G36 for some years now top bit of kit compact and easy to use
Very popular with the teams as its stock folds flat easy for vehicle deployment.
