This is simply down to trigger control. To avoid becoming further frustrated with your live fire performance practice by 'dry' (unloaded) firing the weapon.
I encourage my students who have problems to stand facing a wall with an unloaded weapon and practice firing the weapon using a small patch as an aiming point. You should maintain a sight picture throughout and as you "take the shot" the aim should not deviate from the patch. Practice lots! Use training guns to practice if they will allow you to take one back to your on site accomodation. Suggest the force invests in a Laser Blaster device which I have used and can help achieve the same result. Laser Devices, Inc. - Firearms Training: Good luck. |

1. Are you left or right handed?
2. Do you shoot low and left with other pistols also? If you only have one type of pistol available do you shoot low and left with another pistol with reduced trigger pull? 3. Make a video recording from the weak side of the pistol, closeup (while firing at least three shots). Often that will pick up things that you don't readily appreciate to do with your grip, flinching, trigger etc. Here is an example of a new shooter with a SIG, flinching in anticipation: MVI_6084.flv video by Odd_Job - Photobucket |

Just came across this thread a little late I know. Maybe the Op could update us on how he got on? Here at euro-tactical.co.uk we train people on Glock 17, amongst many other f/arms. I would bet my old mums false teeth that your low left problem is definately trigger control. This is always true of Glocks with their long trigger 'pull'. Good trigger control can be taught quite quickly, unfortunately many f/arms instructors/trainers seem unable to achieve this! There is no other way to correct it, aiming off, support-hand finger along frame, standing with one leg raised at an oblique angle... will not work. Only by being taught the proper technique and plenty practice, not just turning live rounds into empty cases, but dry firing, lots of it (saves us a fortune in ammo!). I could go on but then I'd have to charge you. Or you could come on one of our courses here in France!!
I hope you passed your course. Regards, Frenchbob (I'm not really French!) |

Rozzaritch,
Glock, like other modern handgun manufacturers offers different height foresights to adjust the high/low issue. The rearsight is drift adjustable with the standard glock sight tool - or a hammer. Speak to the armourer. Stay safe Dave |

could he not just ask his force armourer to fit a trigger with lesstwo stage pickup?
or if the shtf would it be noted and have a major shitstorm if he was using a "modifed" pistol using non factory parts http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=2..._for_GLOCK_reg_ |

I think his original post was on the first day of his police course. He will have been taught the correct techniques required and how to overcome any problems. There is NOT the option of having different sights, triggers etc. He would need to be able to pick up any force issued weapon and get shots on target.
