I'm looking at putting in an application with the Ministry of Defence Police Force and am after a little advice.
Two years ago; summer before last; I was arrested for robbery, after someone admited to stealing from me I asked him to leave me his watch while he went home to get what he'd stolen. 4hrs later I get arrested for robbery (stealing said watch and beating him up to get it - aparently). Anyway; anyway he got his watch back right away and my bike turned up the next week. A couple of days later I was told that no charges would be brought, either the "victim" dropped them or the CPS decided not to proceed. Needless to say I hadn't laid a finger on him. Aparently the "victim" was on court bail for cheque fraud and sexual assault, so plenty who might want to smack him. Also about 6months before that I went through a nasty relationship break-up, to all intents we were married, joint accounts, mortgage, cars etc etc, and and ended up having an overdraught closed and a credit card closed too as a result of the insuing mess; both of which I payed off in full right away; and have never borrowed since. Would these two incidents cause any problem with my application? |

In short mate...yes it will affect your application.
The reason is that for MOD police your clearance level is DV. And Developed Vetting (DV) also entails financial checks etc...so it will get picked up. Having said that I don't know if your application will be rejected or not on that basis...I would call the MOD Recrutiment department and ask to have a chat with the vetting office to get a better idea on wether if its worth you putting in an application or not. Good Luck Invictus13 |

I don't think it will mate, irrespective of what's happened, you have no conviction or pending conviction for the robbery so your clear there, but you must declare it.
Not sure if the vetting level for MOD Plod is CTC or DV, depends on which post. As with all forces they will conduct a financial check, this is to make sure you have no debts which could leave you open to bribery etc., If they are cleared I can't see a problem! like the above give em a call and try and find out, especially the vetting level |

check Ministry of Defence Police - Transferring to the MDP for more details
it basically says you have to pass normal vetting to join however "If at any point in your career you are posted to an atomic weapons establishment, or any other establishment requiring higher-level security clearance, you will be required to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance" |

Go to your police station ask for a criminal register check it cost you some 10-15£ I guess and there you have all details. I do know in Sweden the system is shown for 5 years..but if you do something more within that period its still 5 years of total clearance away from criminal activity.
Incl shoplifting or a fight.. stronger and more worse things are for life.. But ask them you as a private person can get your own cr check Hawk |

It will be a factor in your application but not all MOD Police posts are DV, So if you are honest with them you should have no problems if it comes to getting DV'd you will be asked lots of probing Q's including financial, sexual preferance etc normaly its not an issue as long as your honest that way your showing your not likely to hold something back if someone tries to bribe you or have you do any kind of subversive act to hide someting. Ring the reqruitment people first and disguss it. A crim record check will not show everything especialy INT gathered about you.
