All the green teams I saw consisted of 1 IBG and a RLC driver. Hopefully things have improved.

I am afraid I do not have much time for internet these days so have only just seen this thread.
I myself am ex-Rmp and was fortunate enough to complete a CP course and deploy in support of FCO. Whilst not having served with any civ pol CP I would guess that these guys are a cut above the usual (UK politicians are not known for skimping on their perks and services!).
Now what suprises me how a lot of you think that a person's training will instantly defie how they react or the standards they hold. My experience Mil and Civ has led me to the following conclusions.
1: People as individuals can be knobs or great guys
2: Organisations train for purpose (Mil high threat Civ Lower threat higher scrutiny)
3: Infantry does not mean good soldier (trust me have worked with quite a few units). Some of the worst and some of the best were Paras and Marines.
4: The best unit I got to work with (and this was an honour) were.......the Staffords. Every man that I met in that unit knew that he stood/fell as a team, by fuck it showed. Every drill spot on, kit maintained, ethos of Company, Platoon, Section, Self. Easily the most together people I worked around.
5. Quite a few RMP have excellent soldering skills (admitted some don't, be honest though we all know a crap performer or two in our teams.
6. RMP are SME at Mil CP for a reason. They provide a quality product. End of, no exception.
7. All (and I mean all) the good infantry I have met with say they would like the CP role. I really believe they would despise it! Don't get pissed, don't get angry, watch everything you say, keep your head down, don't look lazy and so on, blah, blah, blah.
Anyway just my thoughts.

I Think That It Is The Person That You Work With, Not The Organisation They Are Trained With (within Reason) That Counts. I Have Worked With Royal Protection, Sas, Sbs & (obviously Rmp). They Have Pricks In Every Organisation, You Just Have To Take Every Bloke On His/ Her Own Merits. No Matter How Good The Training Provider Is, There Is Always The Chance That A Stroker Will Get Through The System. Trust Your Own Judgement!!

The Rmp course does include planning for all ranks (when I did it anyway)! However it worthy of a note that its a basic course to see if a guy is ready for the role. They then conduct pre- deployment training. I can't comment on the old bill training for PPO's (and wouldn't unless I'd done both to compare). There is a reason why they are both high recognised is because they are both very professionally run. Unlike a lot of civvy courses - which are just grabbing money off guys who think they will get rich on the circuit.......

Having served 18 years in Uk Civvi police (10 years Armed and CP) I would agree with many posts that the two are different yet complement each other. We cannot deny that the current tempo of British Army deployments has allowed a huge wave of hostile environment experience, but that must not be allowed to cloud the issue of planning and suitable appropriate team and responses for CP work. eg dont use sledgehammers for tin-tacks.
If deploying eg Helmand you might want a large overt CP team with plenty of weaponry and experience, but if escorting a principle in the EU / London those tactics and experience are redundant.

HR/LI teams now use the G36c. They went for the full auto MP5K (not available for use here due to legislative restrictions) but now are taking out the G

there is varying diffrences between military/Police as mentioned the different fields of arena, make up of a team who either have experience of both military/civillian side of the CP world. I have worked alongside both and there is not alot in it sometimes other than kit and SOPs
