Hi, Just wondered,
Do MOD police and CNC have ARV's? If so what would there roles be?
Are MOD always armed when out and about between bases or only when on bases?
MOD police at Whitehall and other london establishments, are they armed or do the Met cover the armed parts?

Thanks
For info
MAtt

As far as I know CNC police are always armed when on patrol so they wouldn't need an ARV.

Thanks, so CNC are always armed, while MOD have only 70% of there officers armed at 1 time. Would home office forces use MOD or CNC police as ARV's if there units are unavalible or if closer?

Why all the interest in the various armed police forces? In another post you even asked what sort of spare kit Met ARV's carry with them. The questions your asking aren't the sort I would expect from someone who was interested in joining.

I am currently studying a Btec in Public Services and trying to get all the info i can for a project i need to do. Due to what happened at Stockwell, i have decided to look into armed policing in the UK, seeing the differences between forces if everyone is trained to same standards. I have spoken to some Police forces, but there info was limited. ANd after i have completed my BTEC i a looking at joining a police force.

Ah, that makes sense. Obviously some of the information you're looking for is sensitive and you're not going to get answers.
You might find this article useful
Whitehaven News

Maybe your project will need to look at a more theoretical angle of how the different forces might co-operate and what problems that may create. ie. if CNC police were called in to deal with an armed robbery at the local bank they might not have powers to move civilians out of the area and might need the local police to do that. You'd need to consider who would need to give authority to bring them in and whether command would be handed over to them or whether command would still come from the local constabulary.

By the way CNC police are a Home Office force, but they report direct to the Home Office rather than through their local force.

I stand corrected.
According to their website the CNC police are now under the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. It seems they changed who they report to when they changed their name (they still get called the Ukulele Police around here).
Personally I'm not happy at the idea of having an armed police force in the area that reports to the governments business dept rather than a department whose job is to deal with security or justice.
