Hi all

After some advice really.
I applied to West Midlands Police Force back in Feb, and i still have not heard a reply from them, after looking on their website it states that if unsuccessful you will recieve a letter within a few weeks.
Applications for police officer are now closed.
Does this mean i have been successful or not.

Hi mate,

In police service you should normaly get a reply within first 8 weeks and if you fail the paper shifting then they will infrom you in writing giving your more info on what part you failed ie. 5 competency questions etc and give you the grading aswell (A-D) on your questions.

No news is a good news.

You be fine.

All the best

DH.....

Hi all

I am also in the same position I applyed early September. I applyed for Manchester last year and it took like 4 weeks for them to reply saying I was unsucessful. It has been longer than a month this time I know it takes time for Security checks etc etc but like Jaymacca said no news is good news. I have a good feeling myself. Let us all know when you get a reply as will I

Thanks

A certain individual I know had a problem entering the police force, and was being rejected for no evident reason, he had great skills such as: understanding and talking to the public, had worked security, he knew how to resolve dangerous situations, Had a clean record, Experience working with people, Super fit Great personality, He also had many certificates and a degree. He was puzzled, he then filled a application form out for Merseyside police, saying he was a gay man and got the job with no questions asked.

He is now married with a child on the way, the police forces these days are looking for people who are of a ethnic minority, gay or have a minor criminal record, to reform there character, this is what he has told me personally and told me if I have any difficulties in entering the force then to use that playing card. May not be the most sensible way but has worked for him.

Basically he said you just write down what they want to hear and prove your not a dickhead, and are willing to pull your weight, then you should be fine, he said having a degree don’t make much difference at all, as they are looking for skills such as adapting to situations and overcoming them, you can have all the degrees you want but no common sense or social awareness you wont last.

Like I said I applied in September also to Merseyside police, I don’t know if I will be successful or what due to my age and other factors but no news is good news for now,

Best of luck

Yep, I think its fair that if you spend hours completing an application form, the least the force can do is acknowledge they have received it and keep you updated!

You try and ring the office and you get fobbed off to sum special constable volunteer shit, it’s a joke. To b honest I don’t want to run round being a total mug taking peoples names like a school teacher, might provide experience but not for me. I would want to d something about it.
In the end I thought I will just apply like everyone else, to be honest it is clear to see the people on this site in this forum are clearly seeking guidance and are interested in joining, that’s why we join in the first place, (and it is great to get advice off you guys) to try find information out regarding the police force, and all have ambition and are evidently attracted in having a long career in the force, and you just get sum jobs worth fobbing you off, on the phone who cant even understand what you are saying in the first place. (Pisses you off)

I went to a local police station to ask questions and I got a police officer telling me that I need to be in a shooting club to join the police (first I heard) what a load of bollocks, and then some chubby woman saying not to join the armed police as I will have to carry a gun…not being funny but (no shit Sherlock). And finally the volunteer card out again, do I fancy washing police cars…(no chance)

Really have to do all this just to join the police?? (Don’t think so)

Yes like Mally said they should help you or at least tell you every now and then, even just a simple email telling you what there up to and how long they expect to be, but its just all hush, after all you are applying to join and help the public and have a long term stable career in which you enjoy. Not working in bloody Tesco part time stacking shelves!!!

Sorry for the rant, not aimed at anyone, jus to clear me head

Ok I woke this morning and and found a letter off Merseyside Police. I'm quite happy right now as I have been accepted for the role of Constable. So for people who applyed for Merseyside Police in September like I did then be expecting a letter anytime. Ok now I have passed the Competency Assessment does anybody know what the next stage is so I can be prepared as much possible.

Thanks
Good luck to all that have applyed and not had a response yet
