Default first surveillance job advice please.

Hi guys,

Just need some advice on a job I have been offered in turkey. I’m new to the industry but have experience in the hostile sector, basically an ex pat would like to prove her husbands having an affair.

Any advice on kit or the op would be great also are there any additional legal requirements set in place in turkey for this type of surveillance.

thanks Taff

Just a thought, but do you not think you should have had this all squared away before you accepted the task. Hmmmm.

Know your ground, know your line of work.

Yes both good points and thanks for your expert advice, my experience is in CP and consultation not surveillance.

Thanks for the comments guys but i didnt say i had accepted the job, i said i had been offered one.

We all have to start somewhere and if it proves to be difficult or complicated i'll offload it to a specialist!!

No problem.
Didn't think you had taken it. There are so many things you need to put in place before you leave.

PM me if you need any direction.

Remember about 5 yrs ago several military aviation enthusiastes were locked up for espionage (spying) at a military airshow!! And for you you carry out the job you specified above, you will need a certain amount of technical equipment to get the job done, and you need to get it into the country!! be careful...very careful!!

Dear Taff

You are quite right, we all have to start somewhere. Others are quite right to advise you of caution as you do not want to compromise your situation especially in a foreign country where rules & laws may differ to that of our own but with your background I am sure you have the necessary skills required.

With regards to planning, it appears to me as though it is just a basic infidelity case & I would imagine that your client would just require basic photo or video evidence to achieve her objective. Most tourists in foreign countries will carry cameras &/or video cameras & these would need no explanation at customs. If you were thinking of going as part of a team then you would need handheld radios which do require an explanation, at any airport.

You will need to plan & give good thought to your costs & expenses eg, accommodation, vehicle hire, fuel etc & you will need to make your client aware of these costs beforehand & price the job correctly.

I would imagine that you may be feeling a little apprehensive as you say that you are fairly new to the industry that is why good forward planning is required.
If you don’t take the job then you may regret not trying, if you do take the job then it may lead to greater things.

Good luck

Hi Everyone,
Ive just returned from 2 years CP work in Iraq, and am looking to move into the Surveillance industry, ive completed the Blue Square Global foot and mobile operations course, and was also within Patrols ( recon ) Platoon during my 7 years with The Parachute Regiment. The move across from Cp is hard as i know where to look and how to network there, but this is a whole new ball game for me, was wondering if anyone could offer up any help??
Regards
James
