Thank you for this, I will give your coy a mention at our next ASIS meeting here in Raleigh, NC.
I was asked a while ago about this topic at our ASIS meeting being the resident Brit, and must admit I drew a blank. I think there are many PI firms here in NC alone who could use some sound advice with regards to best practice in the UK.

It seems that interception law and good practice is overlooked alot of the time in favour of Surveillance law. Even more odd given the criminal sanctions attached to interception, unlike surveillance.

It’s a hot topic here in the US at the moment as the president has just signed into effect a bill protecting phone companies from lawsuits. The long and short of it is that the Whitehouse can request phone taps and recordings, on all phone users in the US, without judicial warrant/oversight.
