Right Guys,
Heres the crack on this "job". I phoned the number on the advert that took me through to the PSI in the Medical Support Branch attached to the UKSF Reserve. Nice guy, but the long and short of it is that you will be joining the TA, so therefore will be part time alongside your full time job. If you've been out of the military for more than 6 years you'll be doing the TA version of basic (or at least elements of it.) As you are attached you will not be expected to do selection, but will be expected to commit a lot of your time to training. The rate of pay will be the rate of the full time Army equivalent, and if you are on ops and earn more than the Army pay rate in civvy Street, you get paid the same as your civvy job. Got to say, not my cup of tea, as I'm looking to earn more than the Army rate of pay. Even so it may suit someone else. Cheers, Paul. |

Thanks Paul,
Does that mean that if my civvy job normally pays 7 grand a month the Army will pay me at the same rate!! seriously though, not everybody's cup of tea i appreciate but sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate; the 'opportunity' as a whole could be very rewarding in terms of training, experience, networking and 'conditioning the mind for working in austere environments' !! |

Lol, if only they would pay that, eh? Yeah, it could do the right person a few favours, but I wouldn't fancy commiting myself to it. I wouldn't be comfortable enlisting for another three years minimum, and being at the Army's beck and call again. Been there and done that, enjoyed most of it but wouldn't relinquish that amount of control again. Having said that, good luck to anyone who fancies it for themselves. Paul |

Been in the TA for 8 years and as it stands it supliments my job a treat. Always able to fill in quiet times with courses and I've managed to get quite a few quals out of it.
As you say, it's a big deal and commitment but for the younger and less experienced operator it might be an ideal CV expander and will get you out and about a bit. Keep in mind though the recent sad news of the 23 guys and Int Corp lass. RIP guys. |

They still need medics. Give them a call and they should be more than willing to grab you. There is a bit of red tape to run through but you should get through. Good luck. |
