Some great CV's so far

Just to clarify

Brits only

Ex Military (RN Commando / RAMC / Patrol medics - unless you have nursing or NHS / offshore experience since)

Physically fit

Career medics only, ie paramedics / tier one - tier two medics / primary care experience / remote and or tactical experience / trauma quals and experience / quals such as AMLS PHTLS ATLS BATLS ALS ACLS ATACC etc

If you are RMA level or have done a medical course in support of your operator career then it isnt suitable, sorry.

Thanks fellas

Hawk apart from the obvious you have already pointed out I dont know you well enough to pass judgement

I have had loads of CV's and most are in most aspects fulfilling the requirements posted above, however I'd like to take this opportunity to point out some do's and don'ts.

Most coys put up with CV's for advertised jobs that don't fit the bill as other jobs may come up and once in the system you may fi the bill in the future, especially when you are just submitting on the off chance.

However, submitting CV's outside of spec for particular jobs does you no favours. It hasn't bothered me, but as a pre-warning, some HR depts don't appreciate it and you could be black listed in the future. I have had some CV's with no medical experience and no military or PMC experience, whilst in some respects I applaud your neckiness, it does show either a complete disregard for attention to detail or williness to waste peoples time. If you can't get the basics on the first point of contact then the impression formulated is a bleak one.

Remember a CV gets you the face to face, and the face to face gets you the job.

Like I said, I am happy to review all CV's that are sent and even point in other directions if I know of jobs going, but some HR depts will just get thredders by it and bin you now and in the future.

Some of you may benefit from a CV writing review. It was like reading the Davinci Code in a small minority.....lots of words, no order and fark all sense.

Please take the feedback as helpfull advice, I would hate guys to miss out just because they haven't laid out a CV properly, in some cases there are great skills but I had to hunt it down amongst the shite. A busy HR bod working off a template and without any experience themselves in the real world may bin on sight if your CV isn't squared away.

Anyone now slagging the screen of the PC and kicking the cat, I'm only trying to help.....don't hunt me down and slot me as Eastenders is getting interesting at last

Heres my take on CV writing and layout etc

First page

Title - CV and name
recent Phot - non war mongering, leave the guns and belts of 7.62 out for now, no knives between teeth or cocks out.

Personal details - name, DOB, Address, Tel Number, Innoculations, email, languages, etc

Outline - small section covering topline stuff in regard to character and background/skill set, leave out shite such as "i want to shoot rag'eds, get a tan and have watch rambo 14 times"
You may even include a line containing buzz words such as Ex-Mil, Medic, PMC, Instructor etc

Employment History
Include dates (inc months) with most recent first,
ie ArmorGroup 03/05-07/08 TL Iraq
Then a brief summary of what you did, responsibilities etc

Subsequent jobs need a reason for moving on ie Promotion / end of contract etc

With Military jobs just give an outline, avoid listing every course and his dog ie I once did a sigs course for one day at Blandford cos my morse was rusty.

Education secondary school etc

Career Quals - ie sia course, firearms, medical, related military quals

Professional Memberships

Interests - avoid living in the woods with an airsoft M4

References - dont list them, just say they are available on request otherwise someone may contact someone on your list and all of a sudden your ops manager wants a word.

try and keep it to 2 A4 pages as a max, and keep it simple stupid, leave something for the viewer to ask at interview CV gets you face to face then you can expand verbally

Anything you reference or claim needs to have proof

Each subsequent page needs to be entitled with the same as the top of page one.

If an advert requests specific skill set then highlight in a letter or covering email, or even adjust your CV to highlight it.

After you have written it grab a brew, have a fag or do something else for 10mins and then read it, if you lose track or it looks pants then redo it.

Hope it helps
