Security Management Qualifications?

Now in the twilight of service with Rmp and a qualified CPO, I am looking to the future and in particular the security industry. Whilst my intention is to join the Circuit after converting my qualification, I am looking to the future as well. With the wealth of experience in the forum can anyone suggest a formal management course, either general or security specific that I should consider?

have a look at the BCUC course, it's a two year degree course which is distance learning based.

there is a course called CSC ( Certified Security Consultant, level 5 B-Tec, check a website called anubis or something along those lines.

If you are still in the mob then find out about the CSC course run by Anubis Associates Limited in Hereford. ANUBIS : Anubis Associates Limited :: PRIVATE SECURITY. They are running courses for the forces at the moment, CP and security management in Aldershot.
I have just got back from my module 3 of the CSC and recommend it to everyone.
The course is split into 3 modules, 1&3 are classroom based and 2 is distance learning.
1&3 are 2 week courses which include practical based projects and classroom based projects.
It is different to the courses that are out there offering full degree's but BCUC has now got a new degree course that can be linked into this one saving 2 years for a Masters.
The level of instruction throughout the whole of Anubis is second to none, and I am not being paid by them to say that.
They have some of the best in the business teaching and working. One of the directors has his Masters from Leicester but he also has his CSC as it covers different subjects, so give them a good look.

With regards to the future. what area do you consider working in? In the UK the above mentioned courses have merit, but are you considering overseas roles? Unfortunately most of the UK based courses and qualifications have yet to become popularly recognised outside of Europe. If you are considering non- European work then potential employers set more importance to US courses. There is nothing wrong with the UK courses mind, and in time they will become as recognised I'm sure, but at this time and for the forseeable future the US courses are the ones potential employers want. The ASIS CPP is a good security management qualification, and can be done by distance learning, there are ASIS chapters all over the world and provide good networking opportunities. Other than that possibly look at American Military University's security management course section.

Lads, thanks for this, as in some ways its confirming my own thoughts at the moment. To give you a little more background, I am a lapsed member of ASIS and fully understand the CPP, I am looking at rejoining and the CPP is on the list of things to do, as ROADHOG says is distance learning. I deeply regret not completing my MSc, that HIPPY completed, bailing out on Module 3, due to career priorities. As I have full resettlement/ELC I am looking at CSC, but need to ensure its the right course to do? Thanks again for those who have taken the time to reply.

University of Leicester do a Foundation degree in Security & Risk Management, which if the person is interested in developing can lead on to the BA (hons) and then the MSc.

Hi Ben. Have a look at Bucks New University. They offer a foundation degree in Protective Security Management, with you CP Qual and time served with Cpu you should qualify for a large majority of the course. You will need to only do a couple of days study every 9 weeks.

You could also have a look at our Security Management Cousre. That will give you a Level 4 qualification from Aset. Have a look at Longmoor Group - Home. Click on training and then find the course on the left. If you need anymore assistance give us a call.

When you are out, give us a call, as you know we always want ex Rmp CVs and we will be able to help with your 24 referesher cousre. We have just had a few ex Cpu lads with us recently on that course.
