TheLaird is on a distinguished road
One of the hardest parts about getting a new company up and running in South Wales, as a new Security Company is getting a contract.

Ten years ago, it was easy, and my old company were signing up at least 4 new clients every month, or the same client but a new site.

The Industry has been hit by mergers, and downsizing. Clients in the current econmomic climate seem to be reducing security not increasing it. There are lots of empty Construction Sites etc...

Its not financially viable to hire a BDM (Business Development Manager).
Sell2Wales is a very good site at showing what contracts are coming up.
However, if your not sia Accredited, you can not tender for most contracts. Plus they want 3 years accounts.

However, I will keep trying. Just need that one small contract to start.!!!

Hi mate I'm living in South Wales and I've just read your thread. I'm just getting into the security wrold having just done my CPO course with Wilplan. I'm now waiting on my sia licence to come through so I can start to send my CV out into the CP world. If your looking for people once you get your contract feel free to let me know.

FYI sia ACS Companies can only subby out to other SIA ACS companies.
If, however, you are looking (as I believe you said ) at simply selling YOURSELF as a subby, then you would likely become an employee of that company. what advantage would that have in starting up your business.

If I can be of any assistance, please PM me.
Kindest regards, and good luck.

Clyde

it's called the Approved Contractor Scheme - handy if you get the name right before the Auditors come round to check

I AM of course taking the mickey. Good to hear another small company going for it. Who are you using for Accreditation?
