BlueBoy will become famous soon enoughBlueBoy will become famous soon enough
Not sure if this is up in the right place so sorry if it's wrongly placed.

I know the job doesn't require sia badges and so I guess that explains why there isn't a forum on here for it as this is all SIA related.
But...........why not?
Do any readers have any experience of AV security training?
Does an AV trained 'agent' accquire certificates they can use elsehwere, outside of the company that initially trains them?

Blueboy,

Aviation security within the UK is regulated by the DfT and not the sia. We have had a number of SIA trained security staff who have come on to some Airport sites to manage the access of contractors into work sites. They all had to undergo further training to meet the DfT criteria.
As for the second part of your question it depends on the company that has trained them. A certain well known Airport operator runs all it's own training for security guards up to management level. These courses are recognised within the industry and on some of the courses (management level) are recognised worldwide. Delegates from other countries attend the courses and are always full. There are also attendees from the Control Authorities (Police, UKBA etc) in attendance. All the content of the courses has to meet the DfT criteria and there is generally an observer from the DfT in attendance.
Hope this helps ..
