hi guys,

i am starting my SG training (UK) next week and i was woundering if anyone can give be a heads up on what the corse is like.
I will not name the company i will be working for, but they said in there letter i will be doing an "conflict management" corse.
Also it says in the letter that if you have dun a Door Supervision licence that you do not have to go to that corse ( i have'nt dun this buy the way). which brings me on to my last question can i use my SG licence to do door work? i have looked on the sia web site and it says i can but its a little unclear.
Sorry for the long winded question,i hope someone can help me.

HI,
Unforutunately you cant work as a Door Supervisor on a Security Guard Licence. May I suggest that you actually do the Door Supervisors Qualification instead. This way you can do key holding, Security Guarding - static, retail and Door Supervision all on one Badge.

Maybe suggetst this to whom you work for and and highlight the benefits of doing a Door Supervisors course instead.

Good luck

Hi Garth

We teach Door Supervision, its a 4 day cse through the BIIAB & then your certification is with an other awarding body (we use City & Guilds)

The Cse is split into 2 parts, Roles & Responsibilities & Conflict Management

You must pass both parts to enable you to apply for your sia Licence

If you got anymore questions mate, please ask

The DS is a four day course. Covering the core competancies set out and required by the SIA.
Unit 1 Roles and responsibilities of door supervisors and Unit 2 Conflict management for Door Supervisors. You get to watch a video or two about scenarios. If you are lucky then you will get shown some restraint techiniques, but this is not a requirement to pass the course some offer it some dont.
You then sit an exam, at the end of it. It used to be mulitple choice but it may have changed since I did the course.
Then you have the fun job of sending off for your licence and waiting about 4 -5 months for your licence - oh what joys...

thanks vary much for your help on this, i think that jest about covers what i need to know.
As i said before the company i will be working for do it in house and pay the sia for you. as they are a big company they also do other securtiy eg DS,SG, loss prevention, and some CP and private investagion work (sorry my spelling is bad today.) so they may give us the DS corse as they like to use the people they have, to cover jobs they need doing.

sorry one last question can i do seurity work for football and music gigs or is that a DS too. (by the way as you gest by now iam looking to do work on the side as well as SG work)
