Talking Starting New Job, Suggestions

hi all. been out of the security industry a while, and about to start a new job as loss prevention officer. already have a decent working knowledge of SCONE, PACE and the theft act. but can anyone advise on anything they think might be good to brush up on?

cheers in advance.

i would say help your SG out as much as possable. train the staff to help the SG this will aslo help. oh and one last thing no one knows the store better then your SG so ask him if he/she has any ideas, ( thats if you got a good one that is)

i think your should look at displays as most of them are in the way most of the time. look in to the "tags" see if you can get some better ones. staff training is a must most staff dont no what to do with shoplifters. as you may be able to tell my LPM is not that good.

ahh well its just me unfortunately no guard, just me in a low key uniform or plain clothes. EAS systems seem to be of decent quality although i do think the staff could do with a refresher.

store's not too big. bout 1800 Sq Ft. general erosions aren't that much, but as its on a retail park the main issues are traveling thieves, at least its less likely they will be local.... haha

however, been told in the LP guide. that im not to caution under PACE i was always under the rule of: upon making an arrest, your supposed to caution, or the arrest could be unlawful or something???

any ideas...

not been given any specific reasons not to caution just been told we're not to.

however, dont know if this can be used legally in court. have made a statement template will post a link to it... any advice.

PACE_Template.pdf - Uploaded through Badongo - BADONGO

just click on "download file" and post up your thoughts.

Many thanks

i have been told the same about caution, but i was all so told if you get a shoplifter that starts talking when you waiting for the police then you must caution him! and then wright down everything he says and hand it to the police once they get to you. one last thing NEVER question them about anything, SG/LPM do not have the right to that ,leave it to the police. any more questions mate feel free to ask iam on here most evenings.

it looks ok but we have a differnt way of doing it. we have copys of police statements as the local police can use it more then once (eg copy it with out us signing for it evey time). we have our own statement forms to but we jest use a copy of the police one.
how do you report thift in your company do you have a form to fill out or statements
