Not sure if anyone saw the news in the past week or so, courts are handing knives back to young offenders after they have appeared in court as there is a loophole in the law that certain sized blades have to be handed back as its still the property of the offender. Interesting article posted through the weekly security oracle website Daily Express: The World's Greatest Newspaper :: UK News :: Scandal of the knives in court

What is the general feeling to all working in retail even in the CP side of security you not allowed to remove a knife from the person if found. I would say this is given the offenders a nice invitation for these offenders to pull a knife on the guys working out there, as I see it if you carry a knife you have the intention to use it if you want.

Mate, this is probably the reason I wouldnt make a good retail guard. The yoghurt knitters out there, the red tape and stupidity of our laws in the UK put you at risk on a daily basis. As I said to an instructor not so long ago, at least in HE you have something to hit back with and the bad guys have no doubt that they wont get a second chance!! Thanks for the advice on that MW!!
My personal route would be ..... turn off the cctv, take the knife off them and kick the shit out of them!!! Two good witnesses to say you were playing cards and the jobs a goodun!!!!

£7 or £8 an hour to get stabbed with no recourse??? I THINK NOT!!
(and before I get shot down for this........i reckon 80% of members agree!!!!)

If the law doesnt protect you............. protect yourself!!!!!

not sure about UK , at the moment I'm in Ireland , and had a laugh when saw that even cops (Garda Shiochanna) Do NOT carry firearms..
In eastern europe security is armed better then government here
I think soon i will buy myself a stab-vest as seems law here is on the bad guys side, and youngsters are such a spoiled brats here that i would send them all to army, preferably Russian....
i hate laws in eastern Europe cause of taxes, but when it comes to defending yourself and others i lowe it , i have license to carry and use firearms which are a deadly force , and i wouldn't hesitate to use them if some brat would come on me with knife...
