Good day,everyone,
I want to ask you for advice and some answers. As most of you are sia licensed and based in UK i think you may help me greatly. I'm interested in expanding into UK. But i want to know is there some kind of licensing for contractors(Company License) or is there only requirement to have 100% of security staff licensed ? And how do you think is there any chances for non British To establish themselves on to English market? particularly interested in Belfast (Northern Ireland) and England excluding Scotland. Are there any particular requirements for starting investment? Are there particular requirements for directors i.e. hold valid SIA license? And if we do hold some other world licenses 4-5 licenses from other countries maybe they would help to gain SIA license easier? Well, hope to hear from you soon. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. |

Hi,
I would check your local British Embassy website for details on doing business in the UK. Northern Ireland as yet, is not covered by the sia, but it's coming. All frontline staff MUST be licensed, backend staff should have a back end license. Check the SIA website for details. Other problems, Working Visa's for the UK, if you're from a Non EU country. as I say, check with your lcoal Brit Embassy, they can point you the right way.

May I also suggest that you speak to the Northern Ireland Investment board who are supportive of any project that benefits the local community.

Good Sound advice,
Might I also advise speaking to some of the existing companies within NI, there are many and some are very friendly to newcomers. I would suggest having a word with them in relation to set up costs , local legislation (NI law differs from mainland law in some respects) and what problems you may run into with the natives.... paramilitaries and the likes do still exist (contrary to popular belief) and are still involved in event and door security to certain extent especially within the main cities. I would advise speaking with Dougie at NIBSSS (number on his website) he is a CP world member and will be happy to help you out regarding info. |

thx everyone, as to embassy i need to go to London for that.
All our operatives are from EU. So no problem with visas. Most of our management are now in Ireland, and are keen on getting north. I was looking into sia website but got little bit confused. Looked at the security act, seems very easy to establish without a penny of investment not as in Ireland,as seems theres no requirements to have some kind of standards ec. in place. Thanks to Fulcrum , i will use your advise definitely..
