Thank you all very much for your replies. I think I like this place
![]() The stewarding sounds kind of interesting, I don't know what kinda scope there is for full time work in that though...? Also I can't yet drive so travel could be tricky, I don't know ![]() Thing is I have moved out of my parents house and do need to pay for food, although where I am at the moment I'm not actually paying rent, and of course it would be nice really to have a bit of extra cash for myself... hmm. Traveling is an interesting idea, but I don't think the girlfriend would be too happy with me doing that before disappearing off to the marines lol and in any case, I wouldn't realistically be able to fund that.I'm thinking of something like lifeguarding now, at least it's better than an office - been there and I hate the things. Of course if worse comes to worse and office it will have to be, but I can always keep my fingers crossed ![]() By the way thanks for your ever so helpful arrsepedia advice Roadhog ![]() Thanks again everyone for your comments. At least I know I'll be on my way to wearing that green beret in a years time. En Shallah ![]() |

Mate the travel option is available if you look at doing it on the cheap. Do you or have you thought about rock climbing or mountaineering? Have you got any mates that maybe interested and can drive? Reason I ask is
A) the marines do a lot of adventurous training- being adventurous like they are- a bit of experience in climbing or mountaineering, so you don't freeze up the first time an instructor tells you to abseil down from a great height and you know the difference between abseiling and belaying, might be good and: B) 3 mates and I once spent a 2 months one winter in the Alps for 50 quid each- including buying a car that got us there and back. Bearing in mind it's summer maybe get away with spending even less. You don't have to go far to gain experience in foreign parts, our European neighbours are different enough as it is. |
