Hello Guys.

I am currently running the security department at a top London Hotel after stepping up to cover the role.
I am currently looking for 1 or possibly 2 new officers to replace myself and 1 other.
The pay is £19,500 a year with plenty of oppertunity to build on your C.V whilst at the company. The hours are roughly 4 days on 4 off doing 12 hour shifts day and night.
Applicants must hold a valid sia door supervisors Licence and have good communication skills.

Anyone interrested please contact me.

Cheers

Paul Glazebrook

Thanks for the post. Are you sure.

Or you could earn more at Mc Donalds.
Can anyone afford to live in london and work for this money. At least you can build on your CV.Sorry this is a cop out .Pay the right money .I came out of the Army in 1993 and worked for more then this at the Sheriton tower.Take into account training and the cost of living and we are going backwards.
Ive also just been offered a Rst @£100 a shift. Was also told it would be a good networking oppertunity.Thanks.So will being homeless because i cant afford to live.

Paul sorry this isnt a dig at you its a dig at the industry and what the sia has done to it.

Pay has been going down for a long time; especially relative to inflation. The sia do not set pay; they just naively said it would improve obviously completely ignoring market forces which are always going to be financial.

Its always the SIA isnt it.

If we as an industry are going to get over 'top London hotels' thinking they can pay that sort of money for a 48 hour week; we need to target those actually responsible; the companies negotiating contracts.

Not the governing organisation who's remit extends to only two things: License issues and enforcement; in case anyone did not know.

The sia have also given to many people an "in" to the industry. How many bg's were their 10 years ago compared to now.Their isn't that much more work tho.
By the sia getting involved it has become to easy to give yourself the title of door supervisor or a cp.You can just buy yourself into the industry by doing a course and paying your money. You used to have certain qualities to be involved not just a badge.
This is only my opinion..

I in part agree with what sutty is saying, the cost of living in London compared to the wages do make it a poor choice economically.
But working in a 5* Hotel in London IS a good networking opportunity, if you want to move into other areas of security, or want to break away from the seasonal boom and bust cycle of the CPO or the nocturnal environment of the door supervisor.
The security professional these days needs a lot more than CP/PSD experience, any opportunity for additional experience, or learning additional skills can really boost your career. Working in a London Hotel can at the minimum boost your conflict management skills, your communication skills, your multi-tasking ability- normally just one DSO on duty at a time to do everything- and your customer service/ client relationship skills. On the networking front it can give you contacts especially with VIPs and their security teams. I worked at the Savoy for a time and was at the time offered a number of different London based CP roles from corporate and celebrity sectors.

Plus at the end of the day, the other thing to remember with hotels is they have more birds in them than Baghdad.

You could always just buy yourself onto a course, usually unregulated ones. Nothing has changed in that regard.

Look at some of the more infamous seven day courses. Or the two day DS courses. All the sia did was put an official license up for those disciplines.

It's an excellent opportunity for someone who has been in DS/Guarding and even CP. Work is scarce, especially CP and even 19Quid an hour in better than sitting at home not earning.

Work is work.

Stay safe all and have a good day

You can also drive a bread van for £24k 8 hour days,5 days a week. The job is on the net at the mo.
Just because you want to work in security why should you work for crap money.
I feel quite strongly about the industry as a whole taking advantage of the man on the ground.

Scab I agree with your last post ,but if Joe Bloggs turned up with no skills and a crap course under his belt he wouldnt be in the industry for very long. Also some people started at the bottom and worked their way up.with no training. My fiRst task was stagging on under a very wet tree.I still work on a rst .But how many times have we heard someone who has only just been granted a badge and state they only do CP.
Today you can turn up with no skills and a crap course but a recognised one and get some kind of work. How many of these people will develope the skill set or just stay at the minimum required standard.
I feel that this is has only weakend the industry as a whole. The same as how many training companys and employers their are with sia backing but no knowledge in cp or ds or sg to that point.
I can give you a very good example of one or two firms who would have gone bust years ago if it wasnt for the sia opening the door for them by giving them accreditation.
