I was enjoying a few beers and chewing the fat when a few of the youngster's brought my attention to another banning.
The conversation soon turned onto this subject and it was pointed out that the managers of pubs and clubs guilty of this are working on the beleive that "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BAD PUBLICITY "

I just think they are very sad individuals who really need a reality check and lets hope its very soon coming.

some one please put together a general letter that we can all individually send via email to any head office and bar, that goes down the route of dishonouring, our soldiers, our armed forces, and in doing so Queen and country.
We have the numbers and with a few key strokes, we can and should make a difference.

This occured after the troop had been granted the "Freedom of the Town Centre"... ok so not quite freedom of the "City" but even so. The local dignatories have recognised the contribution that this collection of fine individuals have made.

To argue that the uniforms did not meet the "strict dress code" is utter nonsense. If you were managing that bar and some lout complained that they were drinking in uniform (not meeting the dress code), how much GOOD PUBLICITY do you think you would generate by replying with a strait forward "Wind your neck in! my pub my rules"

It is an esteemed privalidge to be allowed to wear the Queens uniform in any of its many military and civilian guises. No one should ever be asked to remove it. (Save for a copper in a pub.... licensing laws)

It must be pointed out that the uniform, is a strict dress code, worn with pride issued by our country and supported if you needed evidence by a warrant card.
It is not trainers, trakkies, or even whats referred to as combats.
It is the Uniform of the armed forces of this country.
By granting access you are supporting the country and these lads and lasses efforts on our behalf.
Once in, you will have a group of individuals, who are trained first aiders, trained security personnel, willing to help, who are increasingly trained as peace keepers and surrogate policemen. They understand right from wrong, have hard earned (hell ye) cash to spend.
They look smart, clean and polished. and if they do think of misbehaving badly and they rarely do, have a lot more to lose than your average individual.
For a start you know where they work and live, and would not want to dishonour their uniform, regiment and especially their superiors.. (no way

I have a somewhat related question (regardless of the answer, there is no excuse for what the pub did): According to HMG Armed Forces regulations, are service people in uniform permitted to drink alcohol? Just a question that i thought of when reading the above, and to reiterate, regardless of answer, there is not excuse for this pubs actions.

Wasn't the uniform withdrawn from being worn in the Civvy areas, because it was being targetted by criminal groups such as the IRA, and was done to protect the servicemen from being targetted.
Now its deemed safe to wear again.
Well by banning it, Tiger tiger and others are basically rewarding the criminal efforts of a tiny wreckless minority, and undermining every thing that the uniform represents.
Maybe they would like to go the next step in these bars and put a Noraid or AQ collection box on their counters, its the road they're heading down by adopting the rejection of the pride of the armed services.
The licensing organisations should be contacted as well, those within the councils, and the societys, and licensee training bodies, to change attitudes and training.
It is a form of prejudice surely, no turban, no skull caps, no uniform,

In my army days we could drink in uniform in the site bar. No rules against it that I know of. Boycott the bar. Screw ‘em.

Bars should give priority to those in uniform; hell why not make the first drink free if they are in uniform as well.

If its wrong (and it certainly is) then shout about it, challenge it, call attention to it. Make the wrong become right.
Its this, 'ah let it go idea', so frequent in modern life, that is letting society down.
Sure talk with our feet and withdraw our custom.
