This is a request to all United Kingdom Journalist and News Editors.
I would suspect that with an issue of some significance as this? Within the security industry, journalists and alike would be monitoring this forum. Therefore, in the interests of: § Balanced reporting. § Democracy. And § Freedom of speech. I would be grateful to all and any Journalists who may have an interest in this suggested news story or as a current and active issue for the formation of a ‘Union’ within the United Kingdom For: sia Licensed ‘Close Protection Officers’ As being suggested by the individual on this website forum who writes under the Pseudonym of ‘Shakespeare’? To make contact with either other forum members or site sponsors in order to engage with an apposing view on this matter. Quotes: “Thank you all very much for your constructive criticism and advice, also thank you for the numerous PM's, I really wasn't sure how much support this would receive, but the response has been absolutely phenomenal” “My proposals and formation of a union are with the support of countless individual operators” “It seems we have a mass of support, and understandably many wish to remain anonymous by not posting and using Pm instead” End quotes. Fact: This forum claims to have 3800 members of which there are approximately 60 replies to this post and rising slowly. A calculation does show that the above claim is in the least ‘spurious’ by identifying that the open and thereby, legitimate response in that, a ‘comment’ that can be discussed and debated is actually 1.57% with 0.4% (18 positives) of the membership. I would suggest that this is hardly a ‘MANDATE’ for someone to claim that they represent a mass and that the response is quote: ‘Phenomenal’. We look forward to hearing from you. Marcus..by the way mate and I don't direct this at you personally...because I am very comfortable in my own skin and find no need to do that but....I think that you would find if you dig deep enough there are already UNIONS that would welcome and are capable of representing Security staff. Especially those who work in retail...
I am not a UNION hack so I could not direct you to one particular orgnaisation or the other...but have a dig around Bro.. |

Security Guarding, door supervisors, Cash in Trancit, CCTV operators, etc, etc, and last but not least Close Protection and Psd Operators. Now, as we have right now in UK about: 130 000 sia licenced Secuity Guards, 105 000 SIA licenced door supervisors, 15 000 SIA licenced CCTV operators 11 000 SIA licenced Cash in Transit opertives, and only about 4000 sia licenced CP specialists, I also assume that 3800 of members of this forum represents those groups in similar percentages. So, [exactly] 3991 sia CP licence holders, of [exactly] 267 753 all sia licence holders makes, [again exactly] just 1.49 % * Now, does this number correspond better with your 1.57 % ??? Just thought I'm gonna join this little statistics debate, as statistics were one of the courses I had to pass during my University studies, and all I know is that they almost always give different results depending on source data and choosen calculating methods, thats why - by the way - they are so useful while messing with people's heads during the elections ![]() Nothing personal, just numbers... [* numbers taken today from SIA statistics webpage] Last edited by Marian; 27-07-2008 at 02:44 PM. Reason: missed few words :( |

Carl, do you really think that this forum is the only way to contact fellow CP's? How about other forums, databases etc? Do you really think a journalist is going to respond to your request when advertising "in confidence" from a client has been booked? Carl, you are a rope instructer and ex RAF regiment. I have not met you. Never. However there are plenty on here whom I have. Many do not seem to have heard of you, nor in fact have they met you.... You are trying to sound intelligent and are annoyed I haven't consulted YOU on this matter....Why should I? You don't have our operators concerns at heart...you seem to only try and plug your company with every post you place on this forum, unlike myself I may add. (looking at your post above, it is quite obvious don't you think?) You are beginning to irrate like a hungry African Mossi, and as you know a good fat mossi needs a good fat slap. As I said before, at the start of this thread, that I expected some employers to come on here and defend the reasons why not to have a union, and my credability....well done Carl, "we can see clearly now the rain has gone" shall we say? Oh, and don't bother with the old symathy vote: "I don't have many years left in this industry, I have 34 years experience etc etc." You might influence the new lads, but it doesn't wash with the old school mate. Your other arguement against me on another thread about rates of pay in Iraq (2003/04) and accussing everyone of "fantasising" certainly proved you wrong when others responded. I thought that may teach you that just because "you" don't experience something, it doesn't mean everyone else is full of warm brown stuff, does it? But alas, you persist in your petty unintelligent arguements. Good day to you old bean, ta ta! Shakespeare PS Mods, how about having a word regarding his obvious blatant advertising in LARGE print etc etc on every post he makes? |
