it is very unlikely that you will get licenced with a conviction for ABH, in fact i'd say it will be almost impossible, but i may be wrong.
Your CRB will show the conviction obviously and as my understanding on the sia requirements for a licence you have to have no criminal convictions, or your convictions need to be over a certain length of time prior to your application, and that is a few years not months. I also believe that you have any licence revoked if you gain a criminal conviction so if you have any other licences i would check on those aswell. Again i could be wrong but that is what i am led to believe. |

Hi. The sia will not grant a licence if you are found to have a relevant current conviction for an indictable or either-way offence. Unfortunately, ABH is such an offence. A CP licence course will cost you around £2,500 or more and I would advise that you don't waste your money until the conviction is spent. Once the conviction is spent, then seek advice from the SIA. If the SIA are unaware of your conviction, then you risk losing your current licences by informing them. However, failure to inform them of a conviction places you at risk of up to 6 months imprisonment, a fine of up to £5000 or both. I hope this helps and I'm sorry if this comes as a disappointment.
Good luck. Tom Pettman |

Pal,
Again, I don't want to give in a public forum, but it depends on circumstances/time etc, you need to call sia office asap and dicuss this with a consultant as it may effect your other 2 licenses... These consultants will listen to your side and advise accordingly. DH.... |

Hello again,
I may have misled you before as I mentioned indictable or either-way offences as a barrier to obtaining a licence. I should have explained that relevant summary offences are also restrictive and common assault, though much less severe than ABH, is still a summary offence. Sorry I didn't explain this earlier mate. |
