Hi,

CTR services run a level 3 seven day Surveillance and intelligence operators course from their base in Norfolk.

They have excellent facilities and all the equipment you will need for the course, including fully covert comms.

The course covers both theory and practical, with the emphasis being on the practical side with several topics.

Good student to staff ratio and all the guys on the course last week thoroughly enjoyed themselves and felt that they had got value for money. They all left having acquired new or improved skills and with greater confidence in the business.

This was my first dealings with CTR, who are also an operational company, and I was impressed.

I have no affiliation with the company but am reporting as I saw it.

Adrian Kent runs the business and can answer any other questions.

I haven't done CTR's Surveillance course but I have done their CP course and I echo the above. Adrian Kent is a great guy as are the instructors. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

I contacted CTR about their advertised courses.

What a letdown. They returned an email that did not answer my questions and also never replied to my specific training needs.

Look to be set up to just basic SV & CP training.

For admin they get 1/10, shame as I liked the sound of a few of their courses.

Its a shame you had a not so good experience, I found their communication and admin to be right on the money from start to finish.

I can only apologise regarding your post about lack of reply to your email, if we did not answer your questions fully then you could have informed us and we would have looked int this problem, again apologies.

CTR Services provide nationally accredited courses including CP and Surveillance of which was the first in the UK to be nationally recognised and certified at Level 3. Many have copied this qualification down to the individual modules and course title whilst reducing the duration and increasing the price!

Peter Jenkins of ISS training also has worked hard to ensure his courses are certified and as sure as night is day if we did not run a surveillance course then I would be reccomending Peter's course.

CTR are an operational company and so do not rely completely on profit from these courses and the main factor motivating both our company and instructors is quality training to individuals and companies who require first class training to operate effectively within their role, thishas always been the case and always will be.

All I say is please look into the training provider and try and visit them prior to commiting to any course in order to see them first hand, also speak with past students and get their remarks. Whether you train with CTR or not, its important to get the best training possible to add to your professional development...

As we were mentioned, I thought it only right to add some…

I can concur with Adrian Kent, do some research. His was the first company to accredit his Surveillance training with the OCN (much to our annoyance as he pipped us to the post whilst Edexcel dragged their heels with our BTEC Award), although we have been running surveillance training since the early nineties.

Can I just add (so we are not confused with any other company), that we also are also an operational company carrying out surveillance work. Whilst 75% of our work is surveillance related training, 25% is actual surveillance work.

Out of that 75% training, only a third of it relates to our ‘open courses’ where members of the public pay to be trained – there is not much profit in these courses (although newer training providers think that there is). The remaining training goes to Enforcement Agencies, Allied Military Units and Foreign Specialist Police Forces. We do not do teach anything else such as CP, Doorwork or PSD, we stick to what we know and have a very experienced staff base.

Just wanted to put our twopenneth in, as we keep hearing many misconceptions about our business from those that know nothing about our business in this field.

If you want a brochure, please ring and I’ll put one in the post. – It is so good, it was plagiarised even before the ink dried (not by CTR may I add).

Quick question for Conwy, Did you actually attend that course as a student? Cheers

I would like to add,ive attended iss training, and Pete and his staff are exellent,the training you get is top notch i rate them as the best in their field , those are my thoughts , hows things Pete? email inbound , chears and stay safe ram out.

I would like to add my small measure of praise to Peter's course... Although I haven't trained with them (coming from similar background) all I have ever heard is positve, nay glowing comments.. As a trainer myself I know how difficult maintaining sucg a reputation can be! Another stirling trainer, all be it in a differing filed of security, is Andy Walker.

I would not hesitate to recomend either of these two chaps to people. And as anyone on here who knows me, I am very loath to recommend anything or anyone!
