I could do with the same if one is available for an iphone, but what i do use is a digital voice recorder, which i bought from argos, very simple, very small, has good range and is easy to use. I use it for my risk assessments. Its an Olympus vn-2100pc, its about 1 inch by 3 inches. Price around £40.00. My clients always go out and buy one after they have seen it.

I agree CO19, I have a couple of digital voice recorders, one made by Reltel with phone hookups, covert mics etc and a Sony unit. Both have internal filing systems and VOX so you are not recording needless silence. The Sony one is particularly good as you can download recordings as wave files into the PC with time and date stamps. Only draw back is if it either doesn't have non volatile memory or memory back up batteries and you drop the unit and the main batteries fall out you lose the recordings. Nothing is worse than doing some surveillance and finding all the notes you have recorded have been lost. I tend to have more than one system in those events, that way I am covered regardless of any mishap.
Plenty of digital voice recorders on the market to suit a variety of needs. Personally I would go for a separate unit rather than use an iPod as at least the recording format will be universal and not tied to using iTunes to upload. If you need to clean up a digital recording use Sound forge as it is rather good at doing studio tweaks to WAV files. |

You could look at a Creative MuVo. Its an MP3 player with a built in mic. But the recordings are stored on its built in USB memory stick. So you just plug it into your PC and drag and drop the tracks. You can also store computer files on it. It takes one AAA battery which lasts 15 hours. Memory is non-volatile and I estimate that if you are recording voice the battery will run out before the memory does. Its only £23!!
I have used mine to record other people conversations before. ie covert recordings, and it works fine. |

Thanks for your replies everyone.
I am really only looking for one that attaches to my ipod though, not any other devices. I have heard they excist, but want to know of someone that has used one of them how they find it and what the specs are. |
