Has anybody actually used the Denko tracker and if so how did you rate it?

Here is some text about the product:

Quote:
The Denko Track is used by many investigation and law enforcement companies across Europe, there is a very good reason why.

The Denko Track is completely waterproof and shock proof and more importantly it is very difficult to find once placed under a vehicle.

The Denko Track was invented by a very well-known professional within the tracking industry in 2007.

Here are a few major factors concerning the Denko Track:
  • Live Tracking every 10 seconds whilst in motion
  • The Denko Track will switch off after 5 minutes of no movement increasing battery life
  • Battery life can range from 2-4 weeks + (depending on the vehicle movements)
  • The Denko Track will submerge to 50 meters depth and not take in any water
  • Vibration and shock proof .Contains 2 very strong magnets that will stand 52 kilos pulling force
  • The magnets will slide out if not required for the application
  • The Denko Track has on board memory if there is no GPRS network available
  • Battery alert is automatic to the users mobile phone
  • 3-4 hour charge time (light on the charger will indicate charged) .Now with a new slimmer design including enhanced GSM/GPS performance
  • Now reporting via TCP and UDP to ensure complete data transfer communication
The Denko Track arrives complete and ready for action, battery alerts are set up for your mobile before it is dispatched. Once the Denko is switched on, it will transmit a position every 10 seconds alowing you to change this setting on your panel with a click on a button

You can also call the Denko Track from your mobile phone and this will force a position back to our server, or simply leave the Denko
in AUTO mode and it will transmit the data for you at a your chosen interval.

The new version Denko will certainly surprise you. Unmatching performance and reliability mixed with outstanding battery life brings
together a device that will perform like it should.

Hello,

We use the Denko and it does work well. The battery life is excellent and the online tracking panel is easy to use. It seems to be very accurate too. I would recommend it. The waterproof case is actually the Denko wallet, designed for watersports.

Hi,

Its worth noting there are two versions of this. The old version using the sanav GC101 with a motion switch between the battery and the device. The new version is using a simlogic device. The newest version reports motion based on gps position change rather than a motion sensor. This can lead to incorrect triggers as gps bounce is quite common in difficult positions when using these devices covertly.

This means any geo fence you would set-up needs to be larger and you have less warning of movement of the asset. Its allways worth going for a device which uses a motion sensor to start reporting. This means you only get reports when something is actually going on !

Best Regards,

Track Clarity

Hi I would like to say thank you to the many that are using the Denko across the world. The Denko Tracker was introduced by myself nearly two years ago, due to heavy rain falls in the UK and we were asked for a covert tracker that could be dragged through a river and still work. The old version is still a great device, however the new F version Denko has improved GPS performance and onboard memory. Many of you may not be aware that we have a new version Denko. The remarks from Track Clarity are very good and correct, however I guess you can only say we must be doing something right. We found that there are allot of you that require a device that can report from 5 seconds and allow you know that the device is there when you request it.
I agree that using a motion sensor is great for prolonged battery life but the problem we have found is that when a vehicle is parked up for many hours (more then four) it can take a longer period for the device to give its first position. This also stops you informing your customers if asked 'is the vehicle still there'. This requires a drive past. I would love to live in a perfect world and say 100% it is there, but with out having a new position when pressing a button on the panel its impossible to be 100%
We can also reduce the bounces if required from the customer by sending an SMS to the unit and inform the device if you do not move more then 200 meters and cover a speed of x then please do not report. I guess its swings and roundabouts, but I can assure you all that the newer version Denko Tracks to such a high standard and that is why all our customers request us to leave the device on whilst its being delivered inside a UPS van right to there door.
I would like to take this opportunity and also inform those that read this Quote. We have a new locating panel that is the fastest in the world, it will automatically follow your device and zoom from one device to another in less then 2 seconds. It can also inform you via audio beeps every time the device moves, this can be switched off if required. We have also implemented a very fast SMS gateway (when you press a button to make a change to the unit. It uses all five major networks to send your command to the unit and its very fast).
We have also included (check your balance) and polygon geofencing. This means you can now Geofence roads and routes etc. You can also change your device names and change your passwords. We have incorporated Google street view and Google Earth.
I adore the new panel and we will be introducing live video streaming! yes you can watch listen and track at the same time with 30 frames a second. Its great that many of you enjoy using our service and support, and our products and we are very fortunate and we certainly will carry on and push the boundaries and introduce covert trackers that simply take some beating. That reminds me! look out for a tracker called the creeper, there are only 19 in the UK and every one is hand built by myself. Also look out for a new one that is thick as a pencil and has no magnets, made for those vehicles that are completely covered in plastic!,
Many thanks to Track Clarity and to those that take the time to read this.
Kind regards

Gavin

Hi Ross,

Many thanks for your kind words. The Denko Pouch was invented by a chap in France, however the Denko will never be available again because the factory has closed down. We were very lucky to purchase every Black pouch that was left in the factory. We have also tried to purchase them from the watersports shops in the UK, but they wanted to purchase ours!
We have around 196 pouches left so we will be ok for some time yet. Once again I am very pleased you are happy and you have my word that things are just about to get even better when it comes to covert trackers.

Kind regards

Gavin

Have used the denko myself [and still do] although i have to say i replaced the denko pouch with a something else as i found the pouch [particularly the opening] deteriorated after time and allowed water ingress. Excellent idea but in my experience not as practical as it could be. Battery life is good and i have used this device with 3 different panels now and it has performed well on most occasions.

The new panel sound very good Gavin!

Hi,

Gavin great reply. Let me explain my motion sensor comment in more detail and in regards to the device we sell for Surveillance use (we have another device which is used for asset recovery and theft prevention).

We supply the CT-24 device from sanav for covert tracking and for a personal locator device for teams. This device is the updated flagship version of the original device from sanav you used in the denko pouch.

The CT-24 device has an excellent power save mode.In this mode the device updates its gps position while staying on. This means it only takes a few seconds for the free mapping panel we provide to update the position from a motion trigger with a fully developed gps position. It always has a hot fix and because of this can deal very well with difficult locations for gps.

In its power save mode it only uses about 12ma which means that you get a long time on one battery charge with the standard pack or the extended pack we offer. On a test we get over 17000 reports (this was set-up for 20 second position updates on motion ) over 10 days before it needs a recharge. This covers most eventualities!

The Issue I see in using a device without a motion sensor is if you want the trigger as soon as the tracker is activated (which is a standard requirement in surveillance operations) you will not get it until the gps position has changed. In my opinion 200 meters is quite a distance in a built up area when you are trying to control the subject.

Of course trackers should be used as a loss recovery tool rather than a replacement for having eyes on. Nothing beats your eyes for a trigger!

The free mapping panel has street view. We have found the street view tool very useful for our non uk clients as well! Most of our custom comes from police / government / loss prevention which is another device entirely!

However we are finding more people asking us for our covert equipment and although a limited market it does seem to be expanding quickly.

I will add however that we have tested the enduro / eloc gl100 / sim logic device which you use with the denko pouch and it is reliable and provides good gps fixes.

We simply have always been asked for devices with motion sensors. The device you use is a good low cost device and I can understand this being used.

We also love the free panel our customers get to use. It does not support sms to the device as we provide our customers with the standard retail pack from sanav which includes cables and software to configure the device on their local computer. This means we do not restrict the device just to one panel. Although no one has moved away from this panel yet!

Best regards,

Track Clarity

Its good to see 2 companies doing so much development work, supporting their own product and not getting into a slanging match, well done! I must say that I use Gavins product and would thoroughly recommend it. I will certainly look at Track clarity's site.
