Try this one, I have used mine on a few jobs and the picture quality is excellent. Claimed to be the smallest recorder you can get, smaller than a fag packet. The only problem is if you need a mic for the cam it is an add on, and I got stung £80 import tax by customs!!
MICRODOT SQUARED DVR The whole recorder fits unobtrusively in your pocket and there are no controls sticking out to get snagged. It downloads to your PC and a DTG can be recovered using www.exsate.com/products/dvcapture/ a free download. Good luck Dave

Hi,
As RonanRaver said I use the PV500 Covert Black with Button Camera. I bought a cheap dark coloured hoodie with some crappy logo on it, I put a small hole in it around the sternum area and duct tape the camera in place with the DVR in my pocket, it fits in a fag packet nicely. I use it quite often and the results are excellent, it has very good audio and the DVR also powers the camera so you don't have to worry about a seperate power supply. The only thing you must do is make sure you point your body in the direction of what you're trying to film. I also use it in a small briefcase/folder type thing, it's very versatile and as it has a time date stamp it meets legal requirements. There are several models, the PV800 Being bigger and using a hard drive as opposed to an SD card but I've found that I rarely need it for long and as batteries and SD cards are changed in seconds that recording time isn't realy a big issue. It was reviewed in Eyespy magazine awhile back, I think by Peter Jenkins of ISS and (I could be wrong, apologies if I am) and it was given a very good review, so my thoughts were if it's good enough for ISS, then it's good enough for me! Although it is much cheaper to buy from pimall rather than buying it in the UK, all you need is a travel adapter for recharging. |

AMBA,
There are many camera systems that would be suitable some which come at a price and have a high fps the cheaper been of low quality with a few exception, i suggest taking a look at a camera that you can apply to more than one application, though it depends on your buget and what you are trying to achive. take a look at Helmet camera, bullet cameras and mounts for extreme sports though they are more greared towards extreme sports capture they have some great systems that can be applied to different enviormets.certain models can take an SD card up to 4 GB and a remote control unit is include as is a built in mic, Archos also do some cheap to mid end systems shop around though the price can vary. I suggest not to buy memory/sd cards off the same retailers who sell the cameras. There are plenty of websites that sell sd cards for very good prices inc delivery.
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...279&r=20080425 £4.49 http://www.actioncameras.co.uk/SD_Cards.html £17.50 (£14.89 excl. VAT) Ronan Last edited by RonanRaver; 02-05-2008 at 04:00 AM. |

It's not that challenging to buy a raw camera PCB from, e.g. Maplins, and dump the product to whatever you've got to record with at the moment. Stops you keep on reusing the same 'cover' to prevent it becoming a common denominator between situations. Think they are about £40 now? B & W goes down to about 1.5 lux, I guess, good for shady places, night clubs and so on.
