Good day all

i am putting this post out to you all and seeking some advice and pointers if possable.

i did my CP course back in may and have also done a Surveillance course a few weeks after that i have since done a little work but am finding it real hard to get that break and get in the door...

i have all my own equipment and fully kitted out Van and am ready to work. What i am asking is for some advice on how to get in the door or the chance to prove myself with a company

Any help or leads are greatly apreciated

you need years to prove yourself as asset to company.

besides if youre going to bodyguarding/close protection i would suggest get some knowledge of foreign languages...
English is fine, but client wont be walking with dictionary , wont he?
5/6 languages will be good.
Personnaly i know 5 + have 3extra on my 'to do list' just an advice....

oh sorry then im kind of sleepy just try some private companys , detective agencys, that may need your Surveillance skills (: you must have some good name... People must know you and trust you,so until this happens try to do some surveillance for detective agencys, they may need you for infidelity checks or insurance fraud... Or many other , but languages still apply for this, as in nowadays you will be working not only with local community but foreign as well,so it will be your advantage...

Callum,

Depends who you work for.

Some companies supply the kit. I would expect you to have:

Decent car or van
Decent camera (video / stills)
Dictaphone / memo recorder
Binoculars
Car radio
Personal covert radio
Satnav

And that’s just the basics..

Cheers

Peter

Callum

Van - keep it small, keep it plain, don't go to overboard technically
Video Camera - Sony. Make sure it has manual focus and a viewfinder (not just a pull out screen)
Stills Camera - Nikon - Any D series, don't spend too much.
Dictaphone - Digital rather than tape. Olympus or Sony, don't spend a lot. they are easy to lose!
Binoculars - go for a pair of 10 x 25's
Car radio - Motorola, Kenwwod or Yeasu
Personal covert radio - same but covert wires & earpiece from Earpieceonline or Sonic Communications
Satnav - Tom Tom
A copy of 'Advanced Surveillance' ISBN 0953537811- the international best selling book on surveillance techniques...... which tells you all about kit.
An your best investment - a training course!

Happy days........

Peter
